Over 269 people, representing 15 credit unions, raised more than $60,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at the recent Greater Atlanta Credit Union Chapter’s eighth annual Bowl-a-Thon. The fundraiser, held at Suburban Lanes Bowling Alley in Decatur, Georgia, was orchestrated by a committee of credit union employees and was supported by 38 sponsors.
The funds raised from the tournament will benefit the Marcus Autism Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s). Marcus Autism Center, an affiliate of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and a not-for-profit organization, is one of the leading centers in the Southeast for the treatment of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and other developmental disabilities. This unique center offers comprehensive diagnosis, therapy and education for these children and their families. In the United States, one in 110 children is diagnosed with ASD and other developmental disabilities. Today in Georgia, more than 30,000 children are living with ASD and other developmental disabilities. The funds in 2010 will be used to support the Autism strategic plan. This plan will increase CMN Hospital’s ability to diagnose, treat and care for children with Autism in Georgia and the Southeast.
